AJALA MAKES HISTORY AS FIRST FEMALE NCCE EXECUTIVE SECRETARY

Teacher education gets a fresh push under trailblazing leadership.

Dr Angela Ajala has officially assumed office as the first female Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), pledging reforms to improve teacher training, staff welfare, and institutional growth.

Speaking at her inauguration in Abuja, Ajala described teachers as “the quiet architects of the nation’s future” and emphasized innovation, collaboration, and global best practices to raise the quality of teacher education. She also assured staff of a conducive work environment to boost productivity and service delivery.

Outgoing Executive Secretary, Prof. Paulinus Okwelle, handed over the role, encouraging continuity and consolidation of reforms, while the Federal Ministry of Education hailed the appointment as a milestone for gender inclusion in educational leadership.

Ajala brings over 30 years of experience in education, including leadership of Ladela Schools, and holds advanced degrees in English from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
