LAWYER URGES PARENTS TO CURB INDECENT DRESSING AMONG CHILDREN

Legal practitioner warns that family guidance is key to restoring moral values in society.

An Ilorin-based lawyer, Jimoh Abdulquadri, has called on parents to pay closer attention to their children’s dressing habits as part of efforts to curb the growing trend of indecent dressing in society.

Speaking in Ilorin, Abdulquadri expressed concern that many parents now allow their children to wear whatever they like without proper guidance.

According to him, while young people may have personal fashion preferences, parents have a duty to guide and correct them when necessary.

“Indecent dressing is gradually becoming normal in our society, and it must be discouraged,” he said.

The lawyer urged parents to start the change from their homes, warning that the erosion of moral values in society is partly linked to the growing culture of revealing outfits.

He also advised parents not to purchase transparent or revealing clothes for their children in the name of love, stressing that such actions may unintentionally encourage inappropriate dressing.

Abdulquadri emphasised the need to teach children the value of modesty and responsible dressing, noting that dressing half-naked does not enhance social acceptance but may instead reflect poor upbringing.
