GATES FOUNDATION TO PROVIDE FREE HEALTHCARE FOR 32,000 IN KADUNA

NGO partners with Kaduna State to boost maternal and child health through KADCHMA.

The Gates Foundation has announced plans to enroll 32,000 vulnerable residents of Kaduna into the Kaduna State Contributory Health Scheme (KADCHMA) for one year of free healthcare services.

Speaking at an enrollment planning meeting, KADCHMA Director-General, Abubakar Hassan, said the initiative will cover all 23 local government areas, targeting 60% pregnant women and 40% children under five. He hailed the foundation’s support, noting it would help reduce maternal and child mortality and improve access to quality healthcare.

Dr. Anthony Shamang, representing the Gates Foundation, reaffirmed the NGO’s decade-long commitment to improving healthcare for vulnerable populations and urged other organizations to join the effort.

Beneficiaries will be selected based on population size and poverty index, using 2026 data from the Kaduna State Bureau of Statistics, ensuring the most in-need communities benefit.
