Distribution of construction vehicles to councils seen as a game-changer for local development.
A member of the House of Representatives, Anamero Dekeri, has applauded the Edo State Government for what he described as a strong commitment to grassroots infrastructure development.
Dekeri, who represents Etsako Federal Constituency under the All Progressives Congress (APC), commended Governor Monday Okpebholo for recently distributing heavy-duty haulage and construction vehicles to all local governments in the state.
In a statement issued in Abuja by his media aide, Benjamin Atu, the lawmaker described the move as a strategic investment that will strengthen infrastructure delivery at the grassroots level.
Dekeri urged council chairmen across his constituency to put the equipment to immediate and responsible use, stressing that the dry season provides the best opportunity to accelerate development projects.
According to him, local governments should focus on routine and emergency road repairs, drainage clearing, erosion control and other civil works that directly affect residents’ daily lives.
He noted that in the past, the lack of such equipment had slowed down development at the council level, as authorities often depended on private contractors whose services could be costly and delayed.
“The governor’s intervention will eliminate delays in construction and reduce the high costs associated with hiring private haulage services,” Dekeri said.
The lawmaker also called for regular maintenance and transparent use of the equipment, assuring that he would continue supporting policies that translate government investments into lasting improvements across communities.
