AUSTRALIA ORDERS NON-ESSENTIAL OFFICIALS OUT OF LEBANON AMID SECURITY CONCERNS

Canberra moves to protect staff as Middle East tensions escalate, keeping only essential personnel on the ground.

Australia has directed all non-essential officials in Lebanon to leave the country due to a deteriorating security situation, Foreign Minister Penny Wong announced.

A small team of essential personnel will remain to provide consular support for Australians in Lebanon.

The move comes alongside similar evacuations of non-essential staff from Israel and the UAE, as regional conflicts heighten.

Wong stressed that essential officials will continue to assist Australians who require support on the ground.
