3SC STUN LEAGUE LEADERS RIVERS UNITED WITH LATE WIN IN IBADAN

Ibadan’s Shooting Stars pulled off a dramatic victory, edging league leaders Rivers United 2–1 with a stoppage-time goal in a thrilling NPFL clash.

Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) defeated table-toppers Rivers United FC 2–1 in a rescheduled Match Day 24 fixture of the Nigeria Premier Football League at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan.

The hosts opened the scoring in the 33rd minute when Sodiq Ibrahim found the back of the net to give 3SC the early advantage.

Rivers United fought back strongly and equalised in the 69th minute through Wasiu Falolu, setting up a tense finish between the two sides.

Seeking fresh attacking energy, Shooting Stars coach Nurudeen Aweroro made key substitutions in the 60th minute, bringing on Qamar Adegoke and Justice Apaingolo for Ayobami Junior and Sodiq Ibrahim.

The tactical move proved decisive.

Deep into stoppage time, Qamar Adegoke struck the winning goal one minute into added time, sealing a dramatic victory for the Ibadan side.

The result lifts Shooting Stars to 6th place on the NPFL table after 29 matches, while Rivers United remain top of the league despite the defeat, with a game still in hand.

So far this season, 3SC have recorded 13 wins, 5 draws and 11 losses, with a strong home record of 11 wins, 2 draws and just one defeat.
