PANIC IN KWARA AS BANDITS ATTACK RURAL COMMUNITIES

Fear has swept through several rural communities in Kwara State after suspected bandits launched late-night attacks, forcing residents to flee into nearby bushes to avoid possible abduction.

The gunmen reportedly stormed Budesu and Ahun in Ifelodun LGA and Bishewa in Edu LGA, firing shots into the air and sending villagers scrambling for safety.

One resident, who spoke anonymously, described the terrifying moment the attackers arrived.

“They came late at night shooting. Everyone ran into the bush. We’re still trying to know if anyone was taken,” he said.

Sources believe the attackers were targeting villagers for kidnapping, a growing threat in many rural parts of northern Nigeria. Families in the affected communities are still trying to account for missing relatives, while fears persist that the gunmen may still be hiding in nearby forests.

Community leaders have now appealed for urgent deployment of security personnel to prevent the attackers from escaping and to restore calm.

As of the time of reporting, authorities have not confirmed casualties or the number of abducted victims, but anxiety remains high across the affected areas.
