IRAN STRIKES BAHRAIN FUEL FACILITY AS GULF TENSIONS ESCALATE

Tensions in the Gulf surged after Iranian forces reportedly struck fuel tanks in Bahrain, triggering air raid sirens and emergency alerts across the island state.

Authorities in Muharraq Governorate, home to Bahrain International Airport, confirmed the attack but did not specify whether the damaged tanks were part of the airport’s fuel infrastructure.

Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior (Bahrain) said emergency measures were activated and residents were urged to take shelter as sirens sounded.

The strike comes amid escalating retaliation by Iran following recent U.S.–Israeli attacks, with Gulf states hosting American military bases increasingly seen as potential targets. Bahrain hosts the United States Navy Fifth Fleet, Washington’s main naval base in the region.

Elsewhere in the Gulf:

  • United Arab Emirates said its air defences were responding to a missile threat.
  • In Dubai, a drone crashed into a residential building, sparking a fire that was later contained with no reported injuries.
  • Saudi Arabia said it intercepted and destroyed 18 drones overnight in its eastern region.

The incidents highlight the growing risk of the conflict spreading across the Gulf region, raising concerns over regional security and energy infrastructure.
