TINUBU HONOURS FOOTBALL LEGEND FESTUS ONIGBINDE

President Bola Tinubu has paid tribute to Chief Festus Onigbinde, the first indigenous coach of the Super Eagles, who passed away on Monday at 88.

In a statement, Tinubu praised Onigbinde’s discipline, integrity, and passion for football, highlighting his role in developing grassroots football and strengthening Nigeria’s football administration.

Onigbinde made history by leading the Super Eagles to the Africa Cup of Nations final in 1984, leaving a legacy that continues to inspire players, coaches, and sports administrators nationwide.

Tinubu extended condolences to the Nigeria Football Federation, sports colleagues, and fans, praying for comfort for the late coach’s family.
