BREAKING: ZAMFARA GOV. DAUDA LAWAL DUMPS PDP, JOINS APC

In a major political shake-up, Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) after weeks of speculation.

The announcement was made on Monday in Gusau by Nuhu Salihu-Anka, Director-General of Media and Communication in the governor’s office.

According to the statement, Lawal’s decision followed extensive consultations with political leaders, stakeholders, elders and supporters across Zamfara State. The move, he said, was taken in the interest of stability, progress and sustainable development in the state.

Salihu-Anka explained that prolonged internal crises, leadership disputes and unresolved structural challenges within the PDP at both national and state levels contributed to the governor’s decision.

The governor reportedly believes aligning with the APC would provide greater political stability and stronger collaboration with the Federal Government, which he says is crucial for improving security and accelerating development in Zamfara.

The final decision was reached during a high-level meeting at the Government House in Gusau, led by the deputy governor and attended by senior government officials and key political stakeholders.

Lawal also expressed appreciation to members of the PDP for their support over the years, while urging citizens to remain calm and united as the state enters a new political phase.
