A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Usman Sule, has urged governments and institutions to introduce stronger support systems, deliberate policies, and reforms to promote women in the legal profession and across society.
Marking International Women’s Day, Sule praised the resilience, excellence, and growing influence of women, describing them as vital pillars of justice, development, and social progress. He noted that female lawyers in Nigeria and around the world continue to distinguish themselves through dedication, integrity, and professional competence despite the challenges of balancing career demands and societal expectations.
According to him, the rising number of women in leadership positions within the legal profession, judiciary, and corporate sector shows steady progress toward gender equality. He also applauded women making impacts in other fields such as sports, governance, business, and humanitarian work, pointing to global initiatives encouraging women’s participation in leadership roles.
Sule stressed that celebrating women should go beyond annual events, calling for sustained efforts to expand opportunities, protect rights, and ensure equal participation. He also encouraged young women to stay determined in pursuing their ambitions, noting that perseverance and excellence remain key to overcoming systemic barriers.
