PDP GOVERNORS URGE CALM AS APPEAL COURT SET TO RULE ON PARTY LEADERSHIP CRISIS

With the Court of Appeal set to deliver judgment on the PDP leadership dispute, the Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum (PDP-GF) has called on members and supporters to remain calm and respect the rule of law.

In a statement issued by its Director-General Dr. Emmanuel Agbo, the forum—chaired by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed—urged party faithful to exercise restraint before, during, and after the ruling. The governors said the party leadership would meet immediately after the judgment to review the decision and determine the next course of action.

The forum reaffirmed its confidence in the judiciary, describing it as the guardian of justice and democratic stability, while stressing that the PDP remains committed to peace and democratic processes ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The leadership crisis stems from the November 2025 PDP national convention in Ibadan, which produced Tanimu Turaki as national chairman despite court orders halting the event. Rival factions within the party, including one aligned with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, challenged the convention in multiple courts, leading to nine appeals now before the Court of Appeal.

As the legal battle unfolds, the PDP governors insist the party remains focused on providing Nigerians with a credible political alternative and strengthening democratic institutions.
