With the Court of Appeal set to rule on the PDP leadership dispute, the Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum (PDP-GF) has appealed to members and supporters to remain calm and respect the judicial process.
In a statement issued by the forum’s Director-General, Dr. Emmanuel Agbo, and backed by its chairman Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, the governors urged party faithful to show restraint before, during, and after the court’s decision.
The forum said the PDP leadership would meet immediately after the ruling to assess the judgment and determine the party’s next steps. It also reaffirmed confidence in the judiciary as the guardian of justice and democratic stability.
The crisis stems from disputes surrounding the November 2025 PDP national convention in Ibadan, which produced Tanimu Turaki as national chairman despite court orders stopping the event. Rival factions within the party, including one aligned with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, challenged the convention in multiple courts.
Nine related appeals are now before the Court of Appeal, whose verdict could shape the party’s leadership structure as it prepares for the 2027 general elections.
The PDP governors maintained that regardless of the outcome, the party remains committed to democracy and determined to present Nigerians with a credible political alternative.
