Prof. *Iyabo Obasanjo, Ogun APC governorship aspirant, is calling for *greater justice and tangible progress for women and girls, stressing that laws alone aren’t enough.
Marking *International Women’s Day 2026, she said this year’s theme, *“Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls,”** challenges society to turn promises into results.
“Justice is when a woman walks into a courtroom, boardroom, or doctor’s office and is treated as fully equal. It doesn’t happen by accident—it requires action,” Obasanjo said. She urged confronting subtle discrimination, investing in health and safety, and supporting women across all sectors.
Obasanjo also highlighted the importance of women supporting one another, saying mentorship and representation can inspire the next generation. “If elected the first female governor in Nigeria, it will show what’s possible and motivate girls everywhere,” she added.
