ISRAEL STRIKES IRAN SECURITY TARGETS AS MISSILE ATTACKS ESCALATE

Tensions in the Middle East escalated overnight as Israel launched fresh strikes on Iranian security-linked facilities, while Iran responded with new missile attacks that triggered sirens across parts of Israel.

According to the Israeli military, the airstrikes targeted command centres tied to Iran’s internal security leadership and the Basij militia in Isfahan, along with long-range ballistic missile launch sites and a rocket-engine production facility. The Basij militia has faced widespread criticism for its role in suppressing protests in Iran.

In retaliation, Iran fired missiles toward Israel, setting off warning sirens in several areas, including the greater Tel Aviv region.

Israel’s emergency service, Magen David Adom, said about 20 people were injured, many while rushing to shelters as the alarms sounded.

The latest exchange underscores the rising military tensions between the two countries, raising concerns about a broader regional escalation.
