Authorities step up monitoring as students gear up for WAEC and NECO.
The Education Resource Centre (ERC) of the Federal Capital Territory Administration has intensified efforts to enforce strict examination standards and ensure zero tolerance for malpractice in secondary schools across Abuja.
ERC Director, Dr. Neemat Abdulrahim, made this known while monitoring the Senior Secondary Certificate Mock Examination in Mathematics. She said the exercise is designed to properly prepare students for exams conducted by West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and National Examinations Council (NECO).
According to her, the monitoring ensures exams are conducted in conducive environments and that question papers meet approved standards.
She praised the orderly conduct in schools visited and noted growing participation from private schools — a sign of confidence in the ERC mock system.
The ongoing renovation of school facilities by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike was also highlighted as a morale booster, with upgraded halls now providing better learning and testing conditions.
Quality Assurance Director, Hajia Titilayo Alayande, reaffirmed the department’s commitment to safeguarding exam integrity, applauding the ERC team for maintaining high standards.
School administrators, including the Director of Royal Family Academy, Ms. Olubunmi Ayeni, described the mock exams as a reliable benchmark for assessing student readiness, noting that results help teachers fine-tune instruction ahead of external exams.
Schools monitored included Government Science Technical College, Area 3; Government Secondary School, Garki; Government Science Secondary School, Maitama; and Royal Family Academy, Wuye.
The message from FCT authorities is clear: exam integrity remains non-negotiable.
