Africa’s biggest women’s football tournament has a new date. The 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations will now kick off in July instead of March.
The Confederation of African Football has officially postponed the 2026 edition of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Originally scheduled to run from March 17 to April 3 in Morocco, the tournament will now take place from July 25 to August 16.
CAF said the decision followed consultations with FIFA and other stakeholders to ensure the smooth organisation and overall success of the competition.
Sixteen teams are expected to compete at the tournament, with Nigeria women’s national football team entering the competition as defending champions. The Super Falcons also remain the most successful side in the tournament’s history with 10 titles.
CAF says preparations are ongoing and organisers are confident the competition will be a major success when it kicks off later in the year.
