The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is putting its money where its mouth is on gender inclusion, reserving 40% of all party positions at every level for women, the party confirmed on International Women’s Day.
Speaking in Abuja, National Publicity Secretary Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi said the move underscores ADC’s commitment to moving women from the margins to the center of political leadership, recognising their vital roles in homes, workplaces, and communities.
“This is the only party in Nigeria with such a constitutional provision,” Abdullahi said, adding that empowering women politically and economically is key to strengthening democracy and inclusive governance.
The party celebrates Nigerian women for their leadership and resilience while pledging to ensure women shape critical decisions within the ADC and the nation.
