Fear has once again swept through Gidan Tama in Kachia LGA of Kaduna State after suspected bandits stormed the community in a 2am raid, kidnapping several residents — including a nursing mother and her months-old baby — and shooting three others.
According to local accounts and security monitor Bakatsine, the gunmen fired sporadically under the cover of darkness before moving house to house. The attack marks the second assault on the community in less than two weeks, deepening anxiety across Southern Kaduna.
Residents say the sound of gunfire sent families fleeing into nearby bushes in the dead of night. “We can’t sleep with our two eyes closed anymore,” one community member said, describing a growing sense of trauma and abandonment.
Southern Kaduna has faced repeated violent attacks in recent months, with locals urging security agencies to intensify patrols and intelligence efforts.
As of press time, Kaduna State authorities had yet to issue an official statement on the latest incident.
