Two men have been sentenced to 40 years behind bars for selling fake alcoholic drinks in Lagos, NAFDAC announced on Monday.
Nelson Aziakpono and Ikegwuonu Ikechukwu were convicted on eight counts, including manufacturing, distributing, and selling unregistered beverages, as well as misleading packaging. They received five years per count, with an alternative fine of ₦10 million per count.
NAFDAC DG Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye praised the court’s ruling, saying it sends a strong warning to counterfeiters and reinforces the agency’s commitment to consumer safety. She urged Nigerians to stay alert and report suspicious products immediately.
