JIGAWA JSC RETIRES JUDGE OVER CORRUPTION, PROMOTES 80 STAFF

The Jigawa Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has compulsorily retired Shar’a Court Judge Sadisu Muhammad-Haruna for misconduct, citing corruption and illegal detention, the commission announced Tuesday.

Investigations revealed that Muhammad-Haruna extorted fees not allowed under court rules and illegally detained a petitioner, Abdullahi Hamza. The JSC described the actions as a “gross violation of judicial ethics” and a warning that corruption will not be tolerated.

In the same session, the commission promoted over 80 staff members and appointed senior officers to key positions in the state Shari’a Court of Appeal, including:

Aliyu Muhammad – Deputy Chief Registrar I (Administration)

Abdulrashid Alhassan – Deputy Chief Registrar II (Litigation)

Isma’il Sani – Chief Inspector, Shari’a Courts

Umar Malam – Director, Planning, Research & Statistics

Muhammad Lawan – Director, Personnel Management

Kabiru Isyaku – Deputy Chief Inspector

The JSC reaffirmed its commitment to sanitizing the judicial system and ensuring officers perform their duties according to law.
