HFN KICKS OFF ‘TRAIN THE TRAINER’ COACHING CLINIC IN SOUTHWEST

Handball development in the Southwest just got a major boost as the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) begins a four-day coaching clinic tagged “Train the Trainer.”

The programme, which started Monday at Rowe Park Sports Centre, brings together coaches from all six Southwest states, with three sponsored by each state and others joining from academies across the zone.

Southwest Zonal Representative Gbenga Adewusi, represented by Adegboyega Makinde, said the clinic is part of efforts to reposition handball in the region and fulfill campaign promises made during the federation’s elections. He praised HFN President Jibril Ojih for driving the national vision to grow the sport.

Participants will undergo both theoretical and practical sessions, with lectures delivered by International Handball Federation instructor, Coach Michael Tangaha, focusing on modern coaching techniques and grassroots player development.

The initiative is expected to strengthen coaching capacity and spark renewed growth for handball in the Southwest and across Nigeria.
