The U.S. president says Americans should brace for weeks — not days — of fighting with Iran.
In a phone interview with the Daily Mail on Sunday, Donald Trump said the ongoing armed conflict with Iran could run for about four weeks — or even less.
“From the outset, it was assumed that it would take about four weeks. It’s a big country,” Trump said.
His remarks come as the human cost begins to mount. Three U.S. soldiers have been killed and five others seriously wounded in the military operation. Trump described the fallen troops as “great people,” while acknowledging more casualties could follow.
Iran has responded with counterattacks, striking U.S. military bases in the Gulf region and other targets, raising fears of a prolonged regional war.
Echoing the timeline, Eyal Zamir, chief of staff of the Israeli military, said Israel achieved “significant” results in the first 48 hours of strikes inside Iran — but warned that “many more days of fighting lie ahead.”
With both sides digging in, the prospect of a drawn-out confrontation is becoming increasingly real.
