Lawmakers warn of budget freeze if Hussaini Magaji continues to snub the Senate Committee on Finance.
The Senate has called on President Bola Tinubu to terminate the appointment of CAC Registrar-General Hussaini Magaji for repeatedly failing to appear before the Committee on Finance. The demand came during the Ministry of Finance budget defence session in Abuja.
Senator Orji Kalu said Magaji habitually sends junior officers in his place, claiming he is “above the law.” Senator Adams Oshiomhole added that the National Assembly may withhold funding for CAC in the 2026 budget if the defiance continues.
Senate Committee Chairman Sani Musa emphasized that ignoring legislative summons violates constitutional oversight powers and warned that the committee will use full legal authority to enforce compliance and accountability.
