ONDO POLICE URGE TEMPORARY HALT TO NIGHT WORSHIP AFTER ABDUCTIONS

Security alert: Night services on hold amid rising threats.

The Ondo State Police have urged all religious leaders—Muslim, Christian, and traditional—to suspend night worship for now following the abduction of six Celestial Church members during a midnight service in Uso, Owo LGA. One worshiper has been rescued and an informant arrested.

Commissioner of Police Adebowale Lawal stressed that monitoring daytime activities is safer and more effective. He warned that pregnant women and vulnerable individuals should not attend late-night services, emphasizing that hospitals, not churches, are safer for them. Authorities are working to secure the release of the remaining victims, with kidnappers reportedly demanding N100 million.
