Security operatives say a covert arms workshop was dismantled following credible intelligence.
The Katsina State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has uncovered and dismantled a suspected local gun manufacturing factory in Kore Village along Batsari Road, Batagarawa Local Government Area.
Command spokesperson SC Buhari Hamisu said the Special Rapid Response Squad carried out the operation on Feb. 26 after receiving actionable intelligence. Four male suspects, aged 25 to 50, were arrested at the scene.
Recovered items include eight locally made skeletal rifles, five pistol grips, four magazines, rifle butts, magazine parts, metal components and various fabrication tools such as welding equipment, gas cylinders, grinders and hammers. Two motorcycles allegedly linked to the operation were also seized.
Hamisu said investigations are ongoing to identify other syndicate members and possible buyers, assuring that due process will be followed in prosecuting the suspects.
The State Commandant, Abbas Moriki, reaffirmed the corps’ commitment to tackling illegal arms proliferation and urged residents to continue providing timely intelligence to security agencies.
