Tragic case in Benue as authorities investigate.
A Makurdi Chief Magistrates’ Court has remanded 21-year-old Doowuese Paul in the Correctional Centre over the alleged killing of her one-month-old son, Terhile Chupa. She faces a charge of culpable homicide.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Regina Alashi, did not take her plea due to lack of jurisdiction and adjourned the case to March 12 for further mention.
Police said the case began after a distress call on Dec. 14, 2025, reporting that Paul allegedly strangled her baby at a friend’s house in Gboko. The matter is now under investigation by the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Makurdi.
