Tensions in the Middle East are widening, as Gulf nations accuse Iran of launching “unjustified” attacks on their territories — and vow they won’t stand idle.
Members of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) — Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Kuwait — said Iranian strikes hit parts of their territories after the U.S. and Israel launched a bombing campaign on Iran on Saturday.
Following an emergency meeting on Sunday, GCC ministers strongly condemned what they described as Iranian aggression. In a joint statement, they stressed their “right to respond” and said they would take “all necessary measures” to protect their lands, citizens and residents — including military action if required.
Iran, for its part, has carried out multiple retaliatory strikes since the U.S.-Israeli offensive began, targeting Israel and several Gulf locations. Some of the attacks were aimed at U.S. military bases stationed in the region.
With more countries now directly affected, fears are mounting that the conflict could spiral into a broader regional confrontation.
