Retirees in focus: Agencies strengthen collaboration to ensure fair and timely payouts.
The Federal Character Commission (FCC) and the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) have renewed efforts to tackle outstanding pension liabilities and improve nationwide service delivery to retirees. The move was highlighted on Friday during a strategic meeting at FCC headquarters in Abuja.
Speaking at the event, FCC Executive Chairman, Mrs. Ayo Omidiran, emphasized that pension administration is not just a bureaucratic duty but a moral responsibility. “Ensuring retirees receive their entitlements promptly and fairly strengthens public trust in governance and reinforces equity and justice,” she said. She also commended the administration of President Bola Tinubu for prioritizing reforms aimed at resolving long-standing pension challenges.
PTAD Executive Secretary, Mrs. Tolulope Odunaiya, noted that her agency is mandated to manage pensions for retirees of defunct agencies and implement harmonisation measures to ensure uniformity and fairness in payments. She added that collaboration with FCC will help streamline processes and guarantee that every eligible retiree receives their rightful dues without delay.
Both leaders highlighted that institutional cooperation, accountability, and transparency are key to restoring retirees’ confidence and enhancing public service efficiency. The partnership also aims to prevent delays, reduce bureaucratic bottlenecks, and safeguard the welfare of thousands of retirees across Nigeria.
