TINUBU URGES SENATE TO AMEND CONSTITUTION FOR STATE POLICE

President Bola Tinubu calls for State Police to tackle Nigeria’s security challenges, from terrorism to banditry.

During an interfaith breakfast with senators at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Tinubu urged the 10th Senate to begin constitutional amendments to allow for State Police. He stressed that decentralised policing would strengthen local security, enable faster responses to threats, and protect citizens from criminal activities, including in forests.

The president also praised the collaboration between the executive and the National Assembly, highlighting the success of key economic reforms such as fuel subsidy removal and efforts to stabilize the economy. Senate President Godswill Akpabio commended Tinubu and prayed for peace and prosperity in Nigeria.
