Paris St Germain survive a scare against 10-man Monaco, moving through 5-4 on aggregate to the knockout stage.
Holders PSG booked their spot in the Champions League last 16 following a 2-2 home draw with Monaco. Despite falling behind at halftime to Maghnes Akliouche, Marquinhos equalised in the 60th minute, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s strike six minutes later put the Parisians ahead.
Monaco, reduced to 10 men after Coulibaly’s second yellow, pushed for a late comeback with Jordan Teze scoring in stoppage time, but Wout Faes’ last-ditch header missed, sealing PSG’s progression.
Next up in March, PSG will face either Barcelona or Chelsea, keeping their European ambitions alive. The match tested PSG’s resilience as Monaco threatened repeatedly, including a crossbar hit by Bradley Barcola and a close-range miss from Coulibaly early on.
Desire Doue, who scored twice in the first leg, reflected: “The objective is to dominate, but you must know how to come back. Next time, we’ll try not to concede.”
