NAHCON SIGNS 2026 HAJJ TRANSPORT DEAL, STRESSES SAFETY AND PUNCTUALITY

National Hajj Commission sets clear standards as airlines gear up to transport Nigerian pilgrims to Saudi Arabia.

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) on Wednesday signed the 2026 Hajj transportation agreement, with Chairman Amb. Ismail Abba urging airlines to adhere strictly to timelines, operational standards, and safety protocols.

Abba described the signing as “a defining milestone” for the pilgrimage, highlighting the time-sensitive nature of Hajj operations and the commission’s commitment to Nigerian pilgrims’ welfare. The agreement includes measures to sanction underperforming airlines and ensure alternative arrangements where needed.

Prince Anofiu Elegushi, Commissioner of Operations, called it a “reflection of strengthened collaboration and service excellence,” while Max Air’s Shehu Wada assured full compliance with schedules and safety protocols. NAHCON stressed punctuality, adequate aircraft deployment, and careful oversight as keys to a smooth 2026 Hajj.
