KWARA NORTH YOUTHS STORM GOVERNMENT HOUSE OVER KILLINGS, KIDNAPPINGS

Angry youths take protest to Ilorin, warning that communities in Kwara North are under siege and demanding urgent government action.

Hundreds of youths and members of the Take It Back Movement on Thursday marched to the Kwara State Government House in Ilorin, protesting the rising wave of killings and kidnappings across parts of Kwara North Senatorial District.

The demonstrators, who moved through major roads carrying placards and chanting solidarity songs, said communities in Edu and Patigi LGAs—especially Gbugbu and Woro—have become flashpoints of violent attacks, forcing residents to live in constant fear.

“Our region is under attack. Kwara North needs protection, not abandonment,” one protester declared, describing the rally as a peaceful call for urgent intervention.

The youths accused authorities of not doing enough to stop the bloodshed, warning that frequent kidnappings, gunshots, and displacement of families have created a humanitarian crisis in the region.

They demanded immediate deployment of more security personnel, stronger intelligence gathering, and community-based security strategies tailored to the area.

The protesters also cautioned against relocating displaced persons into unsafe communities, insisting that restoring security must come first.

As the protest ended peacefully, the group sent a clear message: “Enough is enough. Kwara North deserves safety, protection, and justice.”
