KANO PILGRIMS SET FOR MAY 13 AIRLIFT AS HAJJ 2026 PREPARATIONS WRAP UP

Kano State confirms readiness for 2026 Hajj, with first batch of pilgrims scheduled to depart on May 13.

The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced that the first batch of intending pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj will be airlifted on May 13, in line with the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria’s official timetable.

Director-General, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim-Matawalle, disclosed this during a visit to the Kano State House of Assembly, assuring lawmakers that all logistics and administrative preparations have been completed.

“We are fully prepared. All necessary arrangements are in place to ensure a smooth and hitch-free operation,” he said, noting that briefing the Assembly—especially the House Committee on Hajj—remains part of the board’s commitment to transparency and accountability.

The DG also pledged to deploy his experience and introduce new strategies to guarantee comfort, safety, and a successful pilgrimage for Kano pilgrims.

Deputy Speaker, Muhammad Bello, congratulated Ibrahim-Matawalle on his appointment and assured him of the Assembly’s continued support.

In further moves to strengthen coordination, the DG visited the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs Protocol Office in Kano, stressing the need for strong collaboration among government agencies and security authorities involved in Hajj operations.

With inter-agency cooperation underway, the board reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the welfare, safety, and spiritual fulfilment of Kano’s pilgrims during the 2026 Hajj.
