TURKISH F-16 CRASHES NEAR HIGHWAY, PILOT KILLED IN MIDNIGHT DISASTER

A Turkish fighter jet crash near a busy highway has claimed the life of its pilot, raising fresh concerns over military flight safety.

Turkey’s Ministry of National Defence confirmed that an F-16 fighter jet crashed overnight in the Karesi district of Balikesir Province, killing the pilot on board.

The aircraft had taken off from a military base before authorities lost contact with the pilot around 1:00 a.m. local time. The jet later went down near a major highway linking Izmir and Istanbul, forcing officials to temporarily shut the road as emergency teams cleared debris.

The cause of the crash remains unknown, and authorities have launched a full investigation to determine what went wrong.

The tragic incident highlights the risks faced by military pilots during operations, even outside combat situations.
