TRUMP: DIPLOMACY FIRST, BUT U.S. WON’T ALLOW IRAN TO GO NUCLEAR

U.S. President Donald Trump says talks with Iran are ongoing, but warns Washington will never permit Tehran to acquire nuclear weapons.

Speaking during his State of the Union address to Congress, President Donald Trump revealed that the United States is currently negotiating with Iran and prefers diplomacy to resolve rising tensions.

Trump said Iran appears willing to strike a deal but has yet to clearly commit to abandoning nuclear weapons ambitions—something he described as a non-negotiable condition.

“My preference is to solve this problem through diplomacy,” he told lawmakers, while stressing firmly that the U.S. will never allow Iran to develop nuclear weapons.

He also accused Iran of pursuing “sinister ambitions,” warning that its missile programme poses a threat to U.S. troops in the region and could eventually endanger the United States itself.

The remarks signal a cautious diplomatic opening, but with strong warnings that Washington remains prepared to act if negotiations fail.
