FIREFIGHTERS SAVE N55M PROPERTY IN KANO BLAZE

Quick action by firefighters prevented a minor fire from turning into a major disaster, saving millions worth of property and lives.

The Federal Fire Service (FFS) in Kano has rescued property worth about N55 million following a fire outbreak at a residential building along Kansakali Street near the Goron Dutse Custodial Centre.

The fire, which started around 3:50 p.m., was traced to an electrical spark from a lithium battery system. Firefighters from the Federal Secretariat station were immediately deployed and arrived to find a one-storey building already partially affected, with one room damaged.

Thanks to their swift response and professionalism, the fire was quickly contained, limiting losses to about N5 million while saving the bulk of the property.

Fortunately, no lives were lost, and officials carried out safety checks to prevent any further risk.

The Fire Service has now urged residents to always use certified professionals when installing electrical and lithium battery systems to avoid preventable fire outbreaks.
