TAU SETS GLOBAL STANDARD: FRESHERS TO MASTER 4 UN LANGUAGES AND INTERNATIONAL SKILLS

At Thomas Adewumi University, graduating isn’t just about a degree – it’s about speaking the world, mastering global skills, and building your future.

Oko-Irese, Kwara State – Thomas Adewumi University (TAU) is raising the bar for higher education. At its sixth matriculation on February 21, 2026, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Francisca Oladipo told 967 new students that fluency in Arabic, Chinese, French, and German is now a graduation requirement.

“These languages are your global passport,” she said, emphasizing that students will also earn microcredentials from top institutions like Harvard, MIT, Stanford, IBM, Microsoft, Oracle, and Google in AI, Data Science, Cybersecurity, Cloud Computing, Digital Marketing, and more.

TAU’s vision goes beyond academics: students must complete 60 hours of community service, gain practical entrepreneurial experience, and graduate with a portfolio of internationally recognized skills. Discipline is non-negotiable, with strict rules against malpractice, bullying, and indecent behaviour.

Founded with just 66 students, TAU now ranks 6th among Nigeria’s private universities, generates most of its energy via solar power, and produces 75% of its food sustainably on campus. The university aims to produce graduates who are future-ready leaders, not just degree holders.

Pro-Chancellor Prof. Victor Olarewaju and Chancellor Engr. Dr. Johnson Adewumi encouraged students to embrace discipline, time management, and entrepreneurship, reminding them that skills – not just brilliance – are the keys to success.

TAU’s bold initiatives position it as a launchpad for global leaders, blending academics, technology, entrepreneurship, and international exposure.
