The 2026 FCT Area Council polls are running smoothly, with security agencies praising voters’ discipline and calm conduct.
Abuja, Feb. 21, 2026 – The NSCDC FCT Commandant, Dr. Olusola Odumosu, has commended the peaceful conduct of voters during the ongoing Area Council elections. Speaking after monitoring polling units across the FCT, Odumosu said the electorate behaved orderly, with no incidents of unrest reported.
He noted that massive NSCDC deployments, alongside other security agencies, ensured a secure environment and sent a clear message to anyone attempting to disrupt the elections. Odumosu added that while voting is going smoothly, officers are prepared to handle any issues after results are announced.
The Commandant also highlighted the polls as a key preparatory exercise ahead of the 2027 general elections, emphasizing lessons learned would strengthen future electoral security.
