TZOLIS’ LAST-GASP GOAL EARNS CLUB BRUGGE THRILLING DRAW WITH ATLETICO

Club Brugge snatched a dramatic late equaliser to deny Atletico Madrid victory and keep their Champions League hopes alive.

Club Brugge KV fought back twice before Christos Tzolis struck in the 89th minute to secure a dramatic 3–3 draw against Atletico Madrid in their Champions League playoff first leg.

Tzolis’ late goal was initially ruled out for offside but was awarded after a VAR review, sparking celebrations among the home fans.

Atletico had taken control early, with Julian Alvarez scoring from the penalty spot and Ademola Lookman doubling the lead before halftime.

Brugge responded strongly in the second half, with goals from Raphael Onyedika and Nicolo Tresoldi to level the score, before an unfortunate own goal briefly handed Atletico the advantage again.

But Tzolis’ late strike ensured the Belgian side avoided defeat, leaving the tie wide open ahead of the decisive return leg in Madrid.
