An explosion at a mining site in Kampani Zurak, Wase LGA, Plateau State, has claimed the lives of 33 miners. Joyce Ramnap confirmed the tragedy on Wednesday, saying the injured are receiving treatment in nearby hospitals.
The mine, reportedly owned by Solid Unit Nig. Ltd., was the scene of the blast, with preliminary reports indicating 33 people were inside the tunnel at the time. Plateau authorities are working with security, emergency, and health agencies to manage the aftermath.
The commissioner urged residents to remain calm and law-abiding as investigations and rescue efforts continue.
