RAMADAN AND LENT START TOGETHER: A POWERFUL MESSAGE OF UNITY — YILWATDA

The rare same-day start of Ramadan and Lent is more than coincidence—it’s a call for unity, peace, and shared purpose in Nigeria.

National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Nentawe Yilwatda, says the simultaneous commencement of Ramadan and Lent this year carries deep symbolic meaning for national unity.

In a statement issued in Abuja, Yilwatda described both fasting seasons as sacred periods of reflection, sacrifice, and spiritual renewal for Muslims and Christians.

He said the rare convergence serves as a “divine reminder” that Nigerians, regardless of religious differences, are united by a shared destiny and must embrace peaceful coexistence for national progress.

According to him, Ramadan and Lent promote common values such as discipline, humility, compassion, and service—virtues he urged Nigerians to embrace to strengthen unity and eliminate division.

Yilwatda also called on citizens to use the period to pray for Nigeria and support the reform efforts of President Bola Tinubu, expressing confidence that unity, patience, and collective sacrifice would help overcome the country’s challenges.

He expressed hope that the sacred season would deepen faith, renew hope, and strengthen Nigeria’s commitment to peace, unity, and prosperity.
