The rare overlap of Lent and Ramadan isn’t coincidence—it’s a powerful signal for Nigerians to unite against terrorism and embrace peace.
The Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC) has called for stronger national unity and interfaith collaboration, describing the simultaneous start of Lent and Ramadan as “providential.”
Executive Secretary, Stephen Adegbite, said the rare alignment sends a clear message that Nigerians must tolerate one another and work together to defeat terrorism and insecurity.
Speaking in Abuja, Adegbite stressed that both fasting periods symbolise humility, repentance, and spiritual renewal, urging citizens to seek peace and pray for national stability.
He warned that extremist groups like Boko Haram and ISIS are enemies of both Christians and Muslims, stressing that no religion supports violence.
Adegbite also called for stronger cooperation between NCPC and the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, noting that interfaith synergy is critical for national cohesion and progress.
According to him, peace remains the foundation for development, and unity across religious lines is Nigeria’s strongest weapon against terrorism and division.
