Global spotlight returns to Argungu as Kebbi applauds strong federal backing and cultural revival.

Kebbi Deputy Governor, Sen. Umar Tafida, has hailed President Bola Tinubu, sponsors, and the people of the state for the successful hosting of the 61st Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival. He said the President’s presence at the historic event highlighted the Federal Government’s commitment to promoting Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage and boosting tourism.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Tafida credited federal support for creating opportunities for cultural growth and economic development. He also praised Gov. Nasir Idris for revitalising and repositioning the festival as a global cultural attraction.

The deputy governor commended the Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Muhammad Sama’ila-Mera, the emirate council, sponsors, and partners—including the National Automotive Design and Development Council—for enhancing the festival with activities like the Argungu Motor Rally.

He further applauded fishermen, cultural performers, security agencies, media, and volunteers for their discipline and dedication, assuring that the state government remains committed to sustaining and improving the globally recognised festival.
