POLICE BUST CULT CELL IN ENUGU, RECOVER GUNS AND HARD DRUGS

Crackdown on cultism intensifies as police arrest suspects linked to deadly confraternity operations.

Police in Enugu State have detained three suspected cult members and recovered firearms, ammunition, and hard drugs in targeted operations against criminal gangs.

According to police spokesman, SP Daniel Ndukwe, operatives of the Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad arrested Emmanuel Mba, 31, and Nnam Onukwube, 35, in the Awkunanaw area of Enugu South following credible intelligence. The suspects reportedly confessed to being members of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, with Mba identified as the group’s local leader and executioner.

Items recovered from them include a pump-action gun, locally made pistol, 31 live cartridges, suspected cannabis, a laptop, and a motorcycle.

In a separate raid in Agbani, police detained eight suspects. After screening, Monday Ezeani, 32, was found with cannabis and 39 pellets of crystal meth (“Mkpuru-mmiri”), while others were released.

The Commissioner of Police, Mamman Giwa, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to fighting cultism, armed crime, and drug trafficking, warning criminals to desist or face the law.
