NIGERIA, ANGOLA SIGN VISA-FREE DEAL FOR DIPLOMATS

New agreement set to remove travel barriers and strengthen diplomatic ties between both African nations.

Nigeria and Angola have signed a visa exemption agreement for holders of diplomatic and official passports, making it easier for government officials from both countries to travel and collaborate.

Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Amb. Yusuf Tuggar, said the deal was signed on Feb. 15 in Addis Ababa during the African Union summit, alongside Angola’s Minister of International Relations, Amb. Tete Antonio.

Tuggar described the agreement as a long-awaited milestone that will simplify official travel, boost cooperation, and deepen diplomatic engagement between the two nations. He noted it would allow authorised officials to move freely without bureaucratic delays, strengthening joint initiatives and dialogue.

Angola also praised Nigeria’s historic support during its liberation struggle, saying the agreement reflects shared values, trust, and a renewed commitment to closer partnership.

Both countries say the move will enhance policy coordination, improve institutional cooperation, and reinforce their long-standing diplomatic relationship.
