1,000 KATSINA RESIDENTS GET FREE EYE SURGERIES, GOVT PROBES MISCONDUCT CLAIM

Life-changing surgeries restore sight for hundreds, as authorities launch probe into alleged staff misconduct.

The Katsina State Government has successfully conducted free eye surgeries for over 1,000 less-privileged patients, offering renewed hope and improved vision through a medical outreach supported by the Darrul Imara Charity Foundation and Endowment, Kano.

The exercise, which marked the second phase of the intervention, was held at the Old Market Eye Hospital in Katsina from Feb. 7 to Feb. 11, with officials confirming that all procedures were completed successfully without complications.

However, the Ministry of Health has launched an investigation following a social media complaint alleging inappropriate conduct by some hospital staff during the exercise. The Commissioner for Health, Hamza Suleiman-Funtua, has set up a committee led by Permanent Secretary, Dr Lawal Aliyu-Rabe, to thoroughly examine the allegations.

Authorities assured residents that the probe would be transparent and necessary steps taken to uphold professionalism and maintain quality healthcare delivery in the state.
