NUT APPLAUDS FG FOR N350M TEACHER AWARDS

Outstanding teachers get recognition, but welfare remains key!

The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) has commended the Federal Government for awarding 12 exceptional teachers N350 million at the National Teachers’ Summit, celebrating their dedication and excellence. Each teacher received ₦25 million, with Mr. Taiwo Solanke from the South-West scooping the top prize of ₦50 million.

NUT President Comrade Audu Amba hailed the awards but stressed they don’t replace the need for better teacher welfare, improved salaries, and conducive working conditions, urging government action at all levels. He emphasized that teaching should be a first-choice profession, not a last resort for job seekers.

NLC President Comrade Joe Ajaero echoed the call, highlighting teachers as the foundation of every profession. Clerics at the assembly also encouraged teachers to foster love, dialogue, and unity in schools.
