NDLEA NABS 64 BAGS OF CANNABIS HIDDEN IN CEMENT TRUCK IN KANO

Suspected drugs intercepted en route to Adamawa as driver lands in custody.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted 64 bags of suspected cannabis sativa cleverly concealed inside a cement-loaded trailer along the Zaria–Kano Road.

According to the Kano Strategic Command, the truck — loaded with Dangote cement — left Obajana in Kogi and was heading to Mubi in Adamawa before officers of the Kiru Area Command stopped it on Feb. 2 following intelligence-led surveillance.

The driver has been arrested and is currently in NDLEA custody, while investigations continue to uncover other members of the trafficking network.

State Commander Dahiru Yahaya-Lawal said the drugs were allegedly meant for distribution in Kano ahead of the Ramadan period, warning traffickers that the agency will not allow them to threaten public safety.

He added that, in line with directives from NDLEA Chairman, retired Brig.-Gen. Buba Marwa, patrols and intelligence-driven operations will be intensified across the state.

Residents were urged to stay vigilant and report suspicious drug-related activities.
