Think tank says real development happens at state and local levels, not just in Abuja.
The The Progressive Institute has urged Nigerians to demand accountability from state governors and local government chairmen, stressing that the Federal Government has constitutional limits when it comes to grassroots development.
Speaking in Abuja, Director-General Lanre Adebayo said governance is a shared responsibility and citizens must understand where development decisions are truly made.
He noted improvements in security under President Bola Tinubu, citing stronger collaboration with the U.S., increased investment in arms and retraining of security personnel, and gains against banditry. He also pointed to growth in manufactured exports and infrastructure following reforms such as fuel subsidy removal and the floating of the naira.
Adebayo added that Nigeria has exited the IMF debtor list and been removed from the European Union’s high-risk third-country category, describing both as outcomes of ongoing reforms.
The institute also announced a partnership with Jade and Jayden Services Limited to promote awareness of government policies under the Renewed Hope Agenda. The firm will support a mid-term sectoral review and help document reform progress to strengthen transparency and investor confidence.
Managing Director James Williams said the collaboration aims to reinforce accountability, stability and sustainable growth through structured public-private engagement.
